The Second Most Effective Trick The Devil Ever Scored With– Did You Glimpse This One _

If you have looked at “The Usual Suspects,” you understand that according to the Kevin Spacey character, “The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist.” That is laughably low on the lineup.

Concealing the truth of his residence in the world from sin-blinded humanity is a parlor trick for the master deceiver: It’s a snap for ethereal darkness to hide in the shadows. How on earth did he “hide” God? Your spiritual life hinges on how well you “see through” these machinations of the dark kingdom.

God is the uncontested greatest Person in existence, more substantial than the universe He created; the Sustaining Power of everything; the Alpha and Omega of all that is; the intimate Friend who is nearer to you than your next feeling. He lives in everlasting Light.
How do you hide the Light of Life ? However, Paul says that’s just what the evil one did: “The god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” (2 Corinthians 4:4-5 ESV).

Undoubtedly, that was the greatest trick the devil ever pulled!
But stand by a second. Wasn’t I going to discuss with you the second greatest trick? Sure, but you need to see the biggest one first and grasp the MASSIVENESS of the beguilement involved. We were brought up so effectively under the influence of that deceit that it feels natural for individuals to puzzle over God’s existence.

Everybody is spiritually blind from birth, powerless to “see” the most significant Person in their life. It may be as common as the cold, but it is incredibly unnatural! You would have to be deeply deceived not to perceive that there is loving, forgiving, saving God right there with you day in and day out.
Yet, such blindness was definitely my experience, until Jesus switched on the Lights. Only then did real spiritual life begin.

This carries us to the second biggest trick, one which closely matches the first and may be even more wickedly clever: If the devil can not keep Jesus from being unveiled as Savior, how does he succeed at making Him seem undesirable as Lord? How can it be that a formerly blinded unbeliever (like we were) can look at Jesus by faith and still prefer to turn from Him to be guided by self instead?

Your spiritual health hinges upon this, since you can get a spiritual life through believing in Jesus as Savior, but have no quality of life if you don’t choose to let Him become your Lord.
A blind worldling can not be blamed for being oblivious to the fact that the most wonderful Person in the world desires to be his or her Friend and Guide. However now that the light is turned on for us, we see better. Adhering to Jesus produces gladness and peace; being guided by self produces stress and mess.

Let’s keep our heart and eyes on Jesus! Your life in Christ will become all you hope it to be, if you let Him lead you step by step.
